Earthquake!

About five to ten minutes ago there was a FUCKING EARTHQUAKE!
In Derby!
I felt like I was on a trestle table, here on my ground floor. Concrete.
I’m really feeling weird now.
More as I find out what happened…
UPDATE:
Earth tremor felt across England
People from across large parts of England have reported an earth tremor.
The BBC received calls [...]

Frozen Webs

I love the way frost hangs on spiderwebs, making the invisible visible and in such a startling, scintillating manner. The recent frosts have left my hedge covered with tiny, fabulous necklaces and chandeliers.

Derby Feb 08 Various

I finally feel that spring is breaking, struggling through the occasional snow flurry and fog bank. I got some pics of Derby in the springly sun the other day, click the pic for a small gallery, including these rather saucy peeps above.

UK : We Aided US Kidnap Flights

David Miliband has admitted two US “extraordinary rendition” flights landed on UK territory in 2002.
He said he was “very sorry” to have to say that previous denials made in “good faith” were now having to be corrected.
BBC world affairs correspondent Paul Reynolds said the revelations were “a serious embarrassment for the British government”.
Former Foreign Secretary [...]

Secret Document Released: No “45 Minutes”

David Miliband, protector of war criminals
Foreign Secretary David Miliband has published an early draft of the UK’s infamous dossier on Saddam Hussein’s weapons of mass destruction.
The document, by Foreign Office press chief John Williams, was an unpublished draft of the September 2002 dossier.
The Foreign Office lost its appeal against a ruling the document be published [...]

NZ Cluster Bomb Summit

More than 120 countries are meeting in New Zealand to discuss an agreement limiting the use of cluster bombs. The talks - launched last year - aim to smooth progress towards the signing of a global treaty later this year.
But some major producers and buyers of cluster bombs - including the US, Israel, Russia and [...]

Capitalism Fails Yet Again

Northern Rock is to be nationalised, the BBC’s business editor Robert Peston has learned.
A consortium led by the Virgin group was leading bids to run the beleaguered bank, while a management buyout had also been considered.
But ministers have decided that nationalisation - the first such move since the 1970s - was the only option.

Apple TV Take 2 Woes

I like the update, I love the new features. Unfortunately, the update doesn’t seem to like my 40gig Apple TV.
Since upgrading, I get:
* Slow, sticky menus. Can’t whizz round like before. The selector sticks and then, often five minutes later, skips down.
* Glitchy playback. Every podcast or film I watch glitches at around the [...]
