Tories Want Iraq Inquiry

655,000 Murdered Iraqis

The Conservatives are set to use a House of Commons debate to call for an inquiry into the war in Iraq.

Shadow foreign secretary William Hague will push for a hearing by senior politicians, with powers to summon officials and military commanders.

Four years and 655,000 murdered Iraqis too late, you spineless Tory cunts.

Toot The Wonderdoggy

Laura was gracious enough to keep me company today while my car was being serviced. As we were wandering down Sadler Gate she said,

“Oh, oh! You’ve got to see this little pug that sits in the window of a shop! It’s AMAZING!”

So we trooped up to Green Lane and in the doorway was a fantastic little dog, not a pug (actually a French bulldog) but still amazing. The shop is Hello Darling!, a new sex boutique that’s trying to be different from the normal pleasure palaces. We got chatting to Mel, Toot’s human, and she was very friendly and told us all about him (and the shop, of course!)

So, if you’re in the area, pop in and say hello to Toot and Mel and perhaps purchase a little something that’ll keep the tiny terror in dog biccies. :-D

Oh, and click the pic above to see more of Toot!

Burgerman 4

The colouring-in started today on the Jon Burgerman mural. I popped down and got some pics and I coloured in a vast swathe of sky too. Well, okay, it wasn’t that big but it made my arm ache loads!

It was great to see folks really getting into it, kids, pensioners – everyone was having a go and having huge fun! :-D

Jon Burgerman

Jon Burgerman is gracing Derby with some of his lovely doodly artwork, on the outside of the Quad construction site. So, I popped down and got some pics (click the one above for the rest).

Here’s what’s happening:

Jon Burgerman, an international artist based in the East Midlands, will be creating a giant mural painting on the hoardings surrounding the QUAD building site between 30 May to 10 June and on display until September 2007.

The mural will be in Jon’s unique comic doodle style and will feature caricatures of the people of Derby. Derby residents are also invited to take part in a citywide doodle self-portrait competition. Jon will see all of the entries and he will use the doodles and comments from Derby residents to inspire his work. Winners of the competition will be featured on the hoardings alongside Jon’s work.

Derby residents will also have the opportunity to help Jon paint the public mural between 7 and 10 June.

I’m going to pop back tomorrow and hope it hasn’t been stolen / set fire to by some of Derby’s, ahem, more vociferous art critics!

Best thing I heard today:

Girl: “Why are you called Burgerman? You’re not even fat!”
Jon: “It’s my name! It’s not made up!”
